Extra Virgin Olive Oil FAQs
What are the best ways to cook with Laconiko?
While many olive oils aren’t good for cooking due to their low smoke points, Laconiko oil will elevate the flavor of any dish, including those grilled and sautéed. It’s also delicious with breads, vegetables, and pasta, or combined into sauces, dressings, marinades, vinaigrettes, and more. Our 100% pure, unblended, single-origin olive oil can be your secret ingredient in almost anything you make.
How long will Laconiko last in my pantry?
Most oils go bad when the fat they contain oxidizes, which breaks up those long flavor molecules and turns them rancid. Laconiko’s pure, unblended oil, which is made solely from the koroneiki olive, has a high concentration of antioxidants. Due to its composition, Laconiko’s oil has a shelf life of over two years!
What’s special about the koroneiki olive?
Our estate of olive trees is planted with koroneiki olives, a variety of olive that’s been used in Greece for thousands of years. Koroneikis are smaller than the typical olive you might find on a salad or at the grocery store, and they pack a much more pungent flavor due to their very high polyphenol levels.
The polyphenols in koroneiki olives also provide a number of health benefits, including decreasing the risk for heart disease and cancer. Our olive oil has grassy artichoke notes with a peppery finish that you’re sure to love.
What’s special about Laconiko?
The olives for our olive oil are grown exclusively on our family’s farm near Sparta, Greece. We produce two early-harvest estate oils, our Olio Nuovo Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the first 2 weeks of harvest, and our Early Harvest Laconiko Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Because they’re made with unripe olives early in the harvest, they have extremely high polyphenol levels, and because we press them cold and transport them cold, their quality is maintained the entire way from the farm to the store. Our oils’ high quality also means they’re great for everything from salads to cooking!
